Icelandic homes use annually on average 4-5 tons of hot water per m2. About 90% of its use are due to central heating and we use the rest for other things, such as taking a bath or shower, clean the home and do the dishes.

- The lower value is the criteria for a well-insulated house with a well-configured heating systems.
- Higher value corresponds to normal use for a house in reasonable condition.
- To find the volume of a house can be multiplied by a factor of 3.3 in square meters.
