We distribute water in the Reykjavík, Álftanes, Stykkishólmur, Grundafjörður, Bifröst, Munaðarnes, Reykholt,
Kleppjárnsreykir, Hvanneyri, Borgarnes, Akranes and vicinity and Úthlíð. Veitur also sells water in wholesale to Mosfellsbær and Seltjarnarnes.
The water distribution system
From the water-gathering stations, water flows into pumping stations and distribution tanks. From pumping stations, water is pumped into fire hydrants and homes. From distribution tanks, water runs into fire hydrants and homes. If the height difference of the water tanks and a home is not enough, water goes from distribution tanks through a pumping station to the user.
